  1. In theory the system is as safe as pure blowback. It simply exchange the mass of the bolt with the acceleration of a part of it. In practice, using riflle ammunitions, it's difficult to fine-tune, being always on the verge of having a too harsh extracion (not enough mechanical disadvantage) or not having enough power to cycle the action (too much mechanical disadvantage).
