  1. To apply modern mindset to past times is a mistake also. At the time it was A REAL PROBLEM to design a box magazine so cheap to be discarded on the field and so consistently built to not cause feeing issues. It was a problem still in the '50s, when the M14 had been adopted, hence the stripper clip guide.

  2. Not said, but the BAR was also a pain in the ass to strip field even for basic manteinance, that infact was often lacking.

  3. The BAR MKIII action has nothing in common with the original BAR. In particular, it has a rotating bolt, and not a tilting bolt like the original. The tilting bolt was a good part of the reason why the original BAR couldn't be lightened further than the Monitor model.
