@hydra_ger They are used to dazzle sensors they wont be making anything fall out of orbit.

@cnccarving The latest thinking is to have multiple beams to get past attenuation, something like a barrel with 30 seperate beams.

@cnccarving there is usually a calibration beam used to fine tune the kill beams. That’s what the ABL used.

Its an expensive way to take down a drone, its cheaper using a martlet missile or a stinger. And those 2 weapons work in the rain.

Biggest problem is atmospheric attenuation. If it rains these weapons dont work.

@anonymjet4436 rain, fog, cloud, snow etc. Light sabre killers I’m afraid. The USN has some interesting techniques that they use for Naval lasers but I’m still unconvinced. The maritime environment is the most challenging.
