  15. There is no need for alarm, much of it is hype. You can fire a submarine launched ballistic missile on a flat trajectory that will reach the target faster than a glide weapon and nobody will be able to intercept it . As for the Russian and Chinese weapons, they are mostly prototypes and horribly inaccurate in my opinion.

  16. The US tried this years ago with HTV-2 and Waverider. There was zero benefit with these weapons so the programs were cancelled. I am glad Russia and China are wasting money on futile equipment.

  17.  @mausenpai215  HTV-2 was not a cruise missile it was a glide vehicle that ran into the laws of thermodynamics so wasn’t useful. The Chinese seem to haven’t gotten around that by launching a missile from the glide vehicle - which is likely what they use as a weapon for terminal attack - which is quite clever if true. (The missile would not be a glide weapon, more conventional.) In reality glide vehicles have extremely limited manoeuvring capability at hypersonic velocities because even a 30 degree turn would make it lose a huge amount of energy - velocity via drag, generate even higher temps and likely fry the internals and reduce range.

  19. The truth is there are very few if any benefits with these weapons strategically, and they are seemingly horribly inaccurate. We know this because of the large yield of the warheads they say they have fitted them out with. They will be hideously expensive too.
