  2. From my own research the reason why Japan is largely Atheist is based on unfortunate misconceptions regarding religion in general as just one look at a cult such as Aum Shinrikyo can lead many to be distrustful towards faith in general.

  7. As another Catholic, I will say that many Japanese have kind of a bad reputation on religion in general due to cults within Japan unfortunately making a bad impression regarding religion.
