  1. Will I get my hair back too? All joking aside, it would be worse than the 70s, because in the 70s we were geared to work without the internet and had paper based systems to do so with a skill set in the population to be function at that time. We have lost our ability to go back to that era.

  4. I’m in IT too and you’re right, but coming across ‘any wire’ is a bit of stretch. First of all, without the undersea fiber network there is virtually no capacity. Second, those ‘wires’ can be easily shout down too. Non-terrestrial connectivity is another issue which can also be shut down.

  5. I’m not sure that having the entertainment industry in the US is a positive. In terms of wasting people’s time it definitely has a net negative economic impact. ‘Tik Tok’ brain is a real thing. I know that Tik Tok is not an American company, but short bursts of ‘entertainment’ from any source reduces people’s ability to focus and maintain concentration which is required for any form of innovation.

  6. I agree that the internet is a mess and primarily used for nonsense, but we all would be negatively restricted to varying degrees if the internet was shut down.

  7. It’s not even breakers. It’s just turning off digital ports on inbound connections. Takes a few seconds and can be restored much faster than cutting the electiricty.
