Great story. It’s always nice to hear how things unfolded and decisions were made from someone that was actually there. When I graduated from Texas A&M with a EE degree in the late 80s there were so many jobs available from Frito Lay. I was shocked at how many EE jobs they had. We were used to postings from Motorola, IBM, NASA, Boeing, Toyota, etc and other as the traditional EE employers. Thanks for sharing your story.

@jimluebke3869 I assume you’re joking, but I just thought I’d check to make sure

@jimluebke3869 You misunderstood what he was saying. He did not state, imply, or infer that industry performs best when income inequality is highest. He was simply stating that you need different pay structures relative to the complexity and value add for differing stages of a larger process. This is well known and 100% true. On the other extreme, if there was a ubiquitous rate for all jobs regardless complexity or value add, two things would happen: First, labor would migrate towards to the simplest tasks due to human nature, second the company building the product would either outsource the parts of the process that were not aligned with their labor force or would go out of business (If their labor was to highly qualify it would be too expensive to carry out the lower end components to build a price competitive product, or if it was lower in the value add, it would be unable to build a quality product as the higher end functions would be poorly executed.
