@mbak7801 Wage increases are the result of inflation, not the base source. Inflation is almost exclusively a result of government spending and the need to print more currency which reduces value of the dollar and consequently worker’s buying power.

@jeanlamb5026 I didn’t say RTW states have higher wages. I said their disposable income is higher. Union states have higher wages, but they also have union fees, higher taxes and higher costs of living. On net, for similar jobs workers in RTW states have MORE disposable income which translates generally into les debt and a higher a savings rate.

@LeiSnows I agree that the rich have had it too good for too long, but in my view, unions are a waste of time and money. Any gains are more than offset by union fees. Data shows that workers in right-to-work states have more disposable income compared to their counterparts in union states. The union bosses and the politicians they pay off are at least as greedy as the corporate executives.

@PWMoze Yes, they seem to work well in the Uk. I lived in Bath for a couple years and worked in Swindon. I don’t know enough about the differences between here and there to understand why this the case. What I do know that within the US the right-to-work states routinely refuse to be unionize, have more disposable income and generally have higher worker satisfaction ratings. Most importantly the number of new jobs and promotion opportunities is much higher in RTW states
