What would it hurt? It is just a short piece of tube passing thru the coolant. Has no internal structure and it is a simple pass thru. The "contamination" is just trans oil frothed with some water. Fresh oil will just push it out.

Small body lift raised the radiator but not fan/engine has been suggested in other posts.

I suspect it is long term corrosion of the solder joints where the trans oil tube passes into and out of the radiator tank.

@n2uid01 If there is no core charge, I wish Ray would do an autopsy. Coolant becomes more acidic over time, loosing its corrosion protection properties. This increases internal corrosion to all the components. I bet coolant service is the most overlooked item in car maintenance. My Subaru owners manual says 11 years. Strikes me as way too long.

The two fluids mix because the transmission cooler is actually a transmission oil line is run THRU the radiator tank as a heat exchanger. Failure of that line internal to the coolant tank, thru corrosion of the solder joints or whatever, allow the two to mix. About trans flushes, depends on the method and how clean the machine is (most are not) I suspect most quickie service centers are not meticulous or knowledgeable enough and treat it as a simple cash cow. I think the issue with a transmission flush is if the method or condition of the transmission pushes dirt/debris into the valve body.

I don't know why so many people are concerned with some water frothed oil in the cooling system harming the new radiator or engine block. It can be flushed out later with soapy water if the transmission survived.

It is a small industrial area with a number of businesses using the lot. Ray shares the building with a body shop in front. There is a business doing granite cutting behind the building. The cruisers are not Rays. Ray mentioned some one else in the area buys them at auction and has had Ray do some repair work.

Nah, does not harm the engine or radiator. Only argument for doing it sooner than later is if the oil contamination would affect the rubber radiator hoses in the long term.

How does a bit of oily water harm the heater core? After all, coolant is just a bunch of water and chemicals anyways.

body lift?

There is probably 4 feet or more of oil line between the radiator and transmission. Bypassing the few inches of line inside the radiator accomplishes nothing. It is just a tube and the transmission flush will push the old stuff thru. 6+ quarts of contaminated fluid to be displaced. A couple oz in the line means nothing.

The "cooler" is just a simple tube running thru the engine coolant as a heat exchanger. It has no internal structure and the oil just passes thru. Can't really be contaminated as nothing would stay or hang up.

If you are talking about what I think, it is an air blowing wand stuck in a gun stock.. It was done as a ha ha. Look for a video NO SWAT TEAM NEEDED 10 mnths ago.

Old vehicles in which the coolant was never serviced. Coolant becomes more acidic with time and looses its anti corrosive properties. Maintenance, maintenance, maintenance

I suspect age and no history of coolant service increases the odds. Apparently being in Ray's service area does also.

It was suggested the truck has a body lift.
