A fraction of a cow means far less 'murder' also, b12 and heme iron, as well as several complex fatty acids are unavailable to plants and synthesising is worse for the environment than meat production.   3. It's a foolish ideology advocating more animals die vs fractions of cows to make their veg. And their arguments hold against plants, too. There's no consistency at all. If animals have rights, should we charge carnivores and omnivores for eating meat? B12 and heme iron, complex fatty acids? We can't get those from plants. What about chlorinated water? Trillions of microfauna die every few minutes due to water treatment in hideous skin boiling vicious death. Would you like to be bathed in bleach?
