  1. No joke. All countries would be better off without CNN and Facebook. The loss of professional journalism (CNN) is one of the most serious crises we face today. The dangerous, mad, irrational hate and derision of Russia (mostly totally devoid of the history and ground dynamics) boiling away in North America today, is an example. The irrational hatred and belief in treasonous, false accusations against Trump are another example. Without professional journalism, there is no democracy, because voters vote in ignorance. Democracy becomes a crapshoot. Facebook, interfering with an election in 2020 normalizes banana-republic tactics and censorship and the chilling notion that an unelected nerd can dictate the future of a country.

  3. As you were there, you have amazing first-hand knowledge to tell. One of the most riveting books I have ever read is "House to House," "An Epic Memoir of War," by SSG David Bellavia, w/ John R. Bruning, about frontline soldiers in house to house fighting in Fallujah. Terror and courage. Their bravery, beyond measure and deserving of unreserved respect and thanks.
