Had no idea Orban has a troll army too. I thought that was Putin's thing.

The ultimate irony would be the US helping Vietnam against China. It could happen 😑

They need to fix their constitution so they can do their share of Asia Pacific defence. It's been 80 years since WW2 and the geopolitical situation has completely changed. Japan is a necessary part of an emerging Asia Pacific alliance.

@Krasnoye158 maybe. Although I suspect the US is primarily interested in keeping shipping lanes open and other concerns that would effect it economically. But then look at Ukraine - there isn't any economic interest there and Ukraine has US support. I would bet that if China attacked Vietnam the US might be motivated to help just because Vietnam is a sovereign country defending itself from a much bigger aggressor. Everybody thinks the US is such a bad guy but there are a lot of people in the US that just don't like to see the less powerful nations get pushed around by the big ones. I know we've done bad things too but it's not as simple as some people like to think.

@rejvaik00 good! I hope the US is supporting all the small countries in the region threatened by China

How did he get elected? Everything I've seen suggests the Polish people are kind and compassionate. Why would they elect the kind of person you describe?

@Krasnoye158 if the US started getting involved where they weren't invited I can assure you that a whole lot of us would be complaining to our representatives. It never turns well for us and all we get out of it is more people that don't like us.

Napoleon ran into the same problem

Crimea is strategically critical. Without Crimea in Ukraine, Putin will have an insurmountable advantage.
3
This only works if Ukraine gets Crimea
3
@Krasnoye158 I would hope the US would stay out of it completely. It's a no-win situation with so many countries claiming the same areas. Taking sides would be foolish.
3
@Janoip I am also a centrist. Unfortunately the loudest voices are the extreme left and extreme right. The center doesn't get much attention 😒

The US and India need to work together to compete with China. I know we've had a problematic history but I hope we can get past that and look forward to a mutually beneficial relationship.

If China attacked Australia, the US would throw its full military power to stop it. No hesitation, no doubt. Even a blockade would bring a powerful response from the US if Australia wanted it.

Hmmm... maybe....

@aol8166 don't care about religion, believe in a free market economy, and dislike people who make judgements about other people when they know nothing about them.
2
@aol8166 nope. Don't like "woke" and don't like Trump.

I saw that video too. Its never been clear to me just how independent Russia's neighbors really are. How far can they go before Russia steps in and crushes them.
2
The best outcome for the US would be for the various countries resolved competing claims and unite with the US to resist Chinese expansion. Probably won't happen but I think the goal is fairly straightforward.
2
Complete agree!

The small group that has the power in Russia would get rid of Putin long before the military would rebel against the Kremlin. No way would they risk the chaos that would create.
2
@ColorPandora I only know what I see in the media. Very kind and compassionate people and willing and ready to fight if they have to. But I suppose I'm only seeing a part of the reality. Are the Polish people beginning to resent the "circus" atmosphere? I saw a few comments elsewhere from Polish people saying they didn't like their autocratic government. Tbh, I have no idea what Polish people are really thinking or maybe they are divided like American Republicans and Democrats.
2
Putin's bots working overtime in the comments.

NATO can defeat Russia without the US. It would be enormously costly in euros and lives, but they would prevail. The danger comes from Russia using tactical nukes if it fears it will lose.

Giving up the Donbas I understand, but Crimea must be Ukraine

All those people predicting the demise of the dollar - wishful thinking. Bitcoin is ponzi scheme scam and the alternatives in autocratic countries where the government manipulates their currency will never be trusted. The dollar will be the only practical currency for decades to come.

Explain please
1
Exactly what I've been thinking.

They don't have to annex it. It is already de facto, a subordinate region of Russia.
