When the colonial powers defined middle eastern borders they failed to recognize the Kurds potential as a nation. The Kurdish population is split among several countries that will never give up an inch of territory. They don't stand a chance. The nations they live in will always see them as threat and try to kill them.

@zanaahmadi123 I doubt the US will ever put their military back to the Middle East again. It never turns out well and nothing worth fighting for.

@memezmemez5176 how would you suggest nation states be determined? Can you agree that the Kurds have suffered as a minority in every nation they live in? Certainly one reason to aspire to nationhood is self protection.

@memezmemez5176 but Kurdistan can be defined: its where the Kurds form a prominent majority population and the Kurdish culture, languages, and national identity have historically been based. Geographically, Kurdistan roughly encompasses the northwestern Zagros and the eastern Taurus mountain ranges. It is not the entire middle east.

@memezmemez5176 the Druze have managed to be a successful minority in the nations they live in. Why do you suppose it's different for the Kurds?
