The dominant society turned the word into a stigma because their insecurities are triggered when they see you and me. Being a victim does not mean you can't prosper, it means you went through an ordeal and came out the other side. Instead of saying things not tethered in fact why don't you open a tab and seek out the information. If someone gives me an inconvenient truth, I research it before replying out of emotion. The U.S. Constitution supported and upheld Chattel Slavery at it's ratification. Later, it added Amendments to put us all on a path to equality.

  32.  @dennisweidner288  The term "Slavery" does not need to appear in the U.S. Constitution for the practice to be supported by the U.S. Constitution, is this 6th Grade? Please see Article IV, Section 2 of the U.S. Constitution for my receipt. America had the chance to start with all free man and chose not to.

  42. Freed Slaves did have Slaves, they enslaved their friends and family. So much so the local governments started passing anti-manumission laws. They were the Slave owners who did not run death plantations.
