Putin is not a very smart man at all, he is either very ill or not thinking rationally at all. He obviously cares very little for the actual people of Russia. By him stopping these things with his sanctions ultimately his people will be the ones to pay again. The world will move on and find ways around his sanctions. He is so ego driven and un-rational that he is doing the democracies work for them and weakening his own country and hurting his own people even more. I don't think he cares about the Russian people at all.
