@sergleua your vitriol in the face of a reasonable argument isn't convincing the bystanders jsyk

does anyone feel like reviving the HURD kernel? lol

@gmdrandom6287 for the "everything is political" types reading this, does it make more sense if we say not everything in the world needs to be stuffed with unsolicited, optically dubious appeals to support your favorite cause while we're just trying to get through the day and write some code or view a text file. It's like how some people start to hate a product from seeing it advertised too much. If you bother people at inopportune times they'll get irritated instead of listening earnestly.

I hope he didn't forget to open his window and clap for healthcare workers.

this assumes there's any intent to apply the restrictions fairly, don't get drawn in by any legalese and take what Linus says at face value.

Bleachbit dev did it better. The "cloth or something" was a pretty fun way to make some cash from drawing attention to a political hack.

@vladlu6362 it's political, but it's about choices any individual of sound mind can make, there's nothing in the four freedoms about "these apply unless you're from XYZ country or ABC background."

glad I'm a few updates behind on my windows machine, I suppose. I'll keep an eye out for Sneedpad++ when someone forks this but thankfully most of my computing happens on Linux where I don't need N++ either way.

@manitoba-op4jx mint is great but if you want something that doesn't rely on debian/ubuntu package base there are still good alternatives, and the mint team are overhauling the default cinnamon theme so it will look better on other distros. KDE's latest release is a lot of fun too, coming from someone who ran mint+kde for many years

the next revision of the CoC is going to be written like a Borderlands monologue, all in the name of FreedomTM.

@StupidusMaximusTheFirst you can borrow any code you want from linux as long as it's under the same license. in any case, the best time to start on a huge undertaking like a new kernel is as soon as you see a need for one, it can be prod ready that much sooner that way.

@xravenx24fe he's incredibly autistic, so when it comes to software he's precisely on the mark, but you can safely discard his ideas about socializing and the horizontal tango...

@radornkeldam look into ReactOS, I suspect it'll get some new pull requests soon if the banned devs want to contribute to another open source project. the devs are from russia so there's little risk of being banned.
