  1. japan for instance has really strict laws and really harsh penalties and criminality levels are very low compared to other countries, I would say it works. However i consider that death penalty should only be applied to extremely serious cases.

  2. I wonder if those people who said that criminals should be given another chance, would say so if they had their children murdered. It's easy to be indulgent with criminals when the crime is unrelated to you.
