  2. there are plenty of places in people's yards in alpine- my yard (in alpine) is over an acre. but, no one should feel they are being pressured to 'open their doors' to strangers. if you have a tent or RV, not a big deal, you've a safe spot until the evacuation is lifted. if you don't- how is it you've been surviving in the back country without planning ahead for things (like fires or power outages)? this is east county- not normal heights or 4S ranch- i don't think folks here appreciate you telling them what to do with their homes- and i don't believe 'mcmansion' is a particularly respectable reference.
