Comments by "Adrian" (@HiAdrian) on "Why Some Star Athletes Are So Vaccine-Averse" video.
When I was a kid I learned that one shouldn't do sports while having a cold due to the risk of myocarditis. When I heard of the vaccine-related cases involving young men, I immediately thought of that, and how this culture obsessed with work/productivity/consumption found itself unable to tell them to rest and take care of themselves. The behavioral component was completely ignored (or so it seemed). When I got my second shot, I was informed about the health risks, but given no advice. Now with my booster shot finally “No sports for 1 week” – yeah, a bit late no?

@jordansutherland9205 Yes, the numbers appear to bear that out; getting Covid-19 carries a higher risk for myocarditis. In either case it looks to be very rare and with benign outcomes when it occurs. Still, I wish aforementioned behavioral role (young men rushing into action during their immune response) had gotten more attention when the studies came out. With the way Omicron proliferates, I reckon one is now almost certain to get infected, so that may affect risk/benefit considerations. Earlier, I was convinced that young people (especially teens and younger) should be left alone, with the burden (and risk) of vaccination placed firmly on the at-risk group (60y+).

@treble77 Hmm, my father is a doctor but I'm pretty sure I heard this from a pediatrician too back then. Basically, don't exert yourself while a viral infection is coursing through your bloodstream; it's an unnecessary risk for an otherwise healthy body.
