@solgato5186 US has very good standards of living, weirdo. Not as great as some Western European nations, though. What, do you live in a world where Americans rush to live in Russia rather than vice-versa? Because in this reality, Russians massively migrate to the US for a better life still. xD

Snowden revealed that companies have access to data, and that with a warrant -government agencies can get access to that data. And again, Snowden went ahead and bitched about that and THEN went to a literla police state which is many times worse than the US is! So not only is he a bootlicker beyond any Westerners, but he's a hypocreite to boot. "Many Americans side with him" Yeah, and they tend to be conspiracy theorists that also believe in pizzagate or unironically think that China or Russia are freer societies despite doing infinitely worse than the US does in terms of violating personal freedom. Imagine a bootlicker for literal totalitarianism crying about this.

@oditeomnes What world do you live in that the US media has that kind of pull? Literally, whenever an opposition media has something to say, they always ridicule US media. I remember when Fox News said some shit about Denmark, and the retaliation from other news media received several million views. My point being that everyone has their own agenda, true, but those agendas often crash against other news media agenda too. And that's why a free media is so important in the first place. So whenever some Chinese mainlander unironically claim that their media ia better becauser it's "verified", my eyes roll into the stratosphere.

@SuanLuang You realize that the Pentagon always makes these crazy predictions to justify more military spending to Congress, right? This is really no different from the screams of military analysts proclaiming that the Chinese Navy would crush the US Navy in the SCS. In reality, the concept of a US collapse is beyond out there in terms of geopolitics. There simply isn't enough wrong with the US to actually predict something like that within the next 50 years. Meanwhile, the institutional issues in Russia are...deep, to say the least.

Free speech ideas is shifting, but its hardly being destroyed. "Indoctrination" is a loaded word which you have zero proof of. The Army consistently obliterates anything sent against it, but as usual can't perform miracles and maintain an entire country with only 2k men. Its reputation worldwide has always been iffy, but it maintains its massive system of alliances. And its printers have always gone BRRRRR but still maintains the dollar's standard and general inflation; all printers go BRRRR to begin with. So either you're making stupid shit up to express your saltiness that a dictator didn't emerge in the US, or you just hate the US, because this was a pretty bad take.

@oditeomnes You realize that all mainstream media has generally similar opinions, right? And the entire point of a free media is that there are plenty of options to go to that aren't mainstream? It should also be noted that ALL MEDIA has issues with "regurgitating" the same points of views only to refute it later. The difference being that the US media is varied, so it helps counteract that basic issue. Something places like China can't do in contrast. So I'm interested in why you specifically pinpointed the US media for this issue when its least effected than most.

@IssaFIre672 Americans are more optimistic than Germany. I've been to Germany, and to me its a society that is in constant denial to itself, needing to feel better by tearing other people down. A sad trait. Though idk if that's just the Germans I met, tbf.

@Kyle Prather Lawmakers make laws, whether Unconstitutional or not. Judges bring them down, if Unconstitutional. Do you not know how the government works? That being said, Snowden 100% could have simply leaked NSA metadata on US citizens, but instead he chose to go to foreign sources and dump all information he had which MANY NATIONS ENGAGE IN but now makes specifically the US the bad guy at a time when nations such as Russia or China are playing the propaganda game and flat-out kill their whistleblowers. This is a weakness of democracy and freedom, and dictatorships have no issues with; and Snowden just so happen to run straight for such countries and be supported by countries that want to hurt the US. Russia, Bolivia, Venezuela have all supported Snowden. All led by leaders that hate the US and all it stands for. In what world do you exist in that I advocated for never speaking up against the US Gov? Snowden did it in such a way that maximized hurting the US' alliances when it could have been an internal Constitutional issue; he had no reason for releasing information on the US' spying abroad BUT to hurt the US. And now he doesn't say a word as Russia beats and tortures protestors in the streets these past few years??? Yeah, I'll have "Snowden caring about freedom" for the Brooklyn Bridige.

@Kyle Prather If he had the moral gumption to stand up to government overreach in getting access to American information, and he runs away to countries that have infinitely worse issues, then it seems pretty suspicous to me. Made even worse when he released information tailor-made for said governments to play the propaganda game internationally when it could have been a domestic concern alone. Not quite. Look up the Unconstitutionality of these acts, and the situation is far more complicated. You look at it and say "surveillance", but in reality it very narrowly is actually Unconstitutional. And you're gonna have to cite them claiming that they knew what they were doing is illegal under oath, because that smells like something you made up. Again, nothing these lawmakers did was illegal. What they did skirted right at the edge, and the practice was shot down by the court. This was a first-time precedence since this is relatively new for US courts to begin with. Now that a precedent is set, people can be jailed for breaking the law, yes.

@Kyle Prather I never said freedom itself is a weakness. I said in this specific case, it is. Because fact of the matter is, even if everyone knows damn well that totalitarian countries are corrupt as all hell, people can and 100% DO act like the LACK of corruption charges or news reports from said countries means that democratic countries are MORE corrupt. Look at any news report on Russia and China dn you'll see plenty of people denying that these countries have said issues because "you have no proof!". And that's how propaganda works; countries with free press means that their dirty laundry goes out, while countries without them can deny having any to begin with. Domestically, I 100% support it. But let's not act like Snowden's act didn't once again give those very same dictators he's hiding under another propaganda moment to shit on democratic practices entirely. What a lovely guy, to make democracy seem like the most corrupt thing ever while never saying a word about said dictator's own dirty laundry.

Again, it gives a message. It's almost like he gives empty platitudes that won't hurt Russia but can and will specify the US that just so happens to be what Russia wants. Dude. Look at any news network's report on Russia or China, and you can usually find people echoing that Putin or Xi didn't do anything wrong and are just being targeted by the US for not bowing to it. That the US is the true dictator in the world controlling and puppeting everyone and the danger to world peace. You can't be this blind. Hell, check Quora on anything about Russia and China and you'll find Anti-US responses being the most highly upvoted while claiming the US is a corrupt decadent society that genocides and oppresses its minorities while China treats all its minorities as equals and is a peaceful country that has mostly ended corruption. @Kyle Prather Uh, yes they could. Surveiling people was never an issue, invading their home without a warrant? Yes. But getting information from their providers? No, that was never a thing they were disallowed from doing. Like all Constitutional limitations, you NEED a precedence. Maybe you believe it doesn't, but that's not how Constitutional law works. Anything is fair game if it isn't disallowed. Now the limitation they did have was using such information to prosecute. They still NEED a warrant to use this kind of information, and that's my limit. I don't mind surveillance, what I fear is it being used against me without a warrant. Most Americans feel as I do, and most countries have similar things in effect. This is the future, whether you like it or not. Over time the federal government grasped more power, and to an extent it was necessary. Once Americans thought taxing at all was tyrannical. Then they thought the federal government dictating what States do is. Then they thought maintaining a professional army was tyrannical. Etc, etc.

@Kyle Prather Well, now its illegal, yes. My point is just that the precedent is born, and usually, to be blunt, lawmakers can't be jailed for it when they're making laws. It creates a terrible precedent. They can be struck down though, as the courts are want to do.

Navalny used a Russian site because he was Russian organizing in Russian. That's a given. Also, you're gonna have to be more specific; I don't recall Navalny organizing a riot, what I remember was Navalny supporters going out to protest after he was jailed for the crime of talking out against Putin.
