@supune If you're looking at ExxonMobil to get a pin on US policy, then you're ignorant. US policy has not benefitted ExxonMobil for a long-ass time. The US had the opportunity to capture cheap oil for such companies, but instead had Iraq sell it to the highest bidder, not at extremely low prices -even then it was sold mostly to Russia/China/France initially.

@sridharprasanth8833 ...Which are only branches of military, nowhere near the executive, judicial, or legislative branches. Do you not know how the US functions at all?
2
Would be impossible since there is no equivalence in the US. Or Europe. Can find one in China, though.
2
@davesprivatelounge Oligarchs imply power in state structures. Billionaires are a dime a dozen and are more akin to celebrities where they get perks but don't actually affect policy.
2
Does Koch or ALEC have any actual control over US policies? If no, then why would he even cover it?
1
@Swim2TheMoon I know what ALEC is. But comparing them to the actual policy makers in Washington doesn't make sense for geopolitics. ALEC does jack all in affecting policy.
1
@Swim2TheMoon They influence policies because no group of organized legislators outside of the literal political parties themselves are actually powerful enough to directly create policy. They can only nudge or influence it in conjunction with other groups -which is why most of their policy objectives have never really been implemented outside of full-on Republican controlled Congress and Presidency. Even then, very little. Like seriously, AIPAC has more influence than ALEC by far, and I ain't one of those people that think AIPAC controls everything.

You're the type of dude to blame women for getting assaulted in the street, aren't you?
1
@callejondorado You do realize that Ukraine is the woman in this scenario, right? Ukraine needs protection from the wife beater from Moscow.
1
@TonyRule Even assuming that the conflict could be avoided by banning Ukraine from joining NATO, why would they? Why would they be imperialists for the sake of Russia, exactly?
1
@TonyRule No? I wasn't born at the time. But if you're trying to compare the two, then don't; unless there are US nukes being planted in Ukraine, your comparison is beyond braindead.
1
@stormshadow5283 First of all, there is no track record of the West or NATO attempting to forcibly break apart another group/country. Inb4 you try and make up crap like claiming NATO (which doesn't have a foreign policy to begin with) forced Yugoslavia to break up. So now, you're not only expressing an opinion; you're expressing a braindead opinion based on nothing but your own propaganda. You may as well argue that China is behind all of this and is the bane of the world's existence; that's how much sense you make.

@bloodfiredrake7259 ...And France, and China, and the UK, and Greece, and Turkey, and-
1
I don't think there are many countries that outright believe that getting new territory will solve their issues in an archaic 20th century sort of way.
1
Like every single nation in world history? Well, maybe not, since most nations aren't deluded enough to think they have the right to erase another people from existence in the 21st century.
1
How about neither since neither has any geopolitical relevance? Just stupid attempts to deflect from mass murderers like Putler.
1
@supune Are you braindead into thinking that because people from companies are placed into positions of power that they're automatically benefitting the companies they came from? Do you not understand how that thinking has no semblance of self-reflection attributed to it? Name HOW ExxonMobil benefitted first, then attribute it to the policies of people in power, then you might BEGIN to have an argument. The oil in Iraq is for the benefit of Iraqis, not the people of the Middle East. They are sold to the highest bidder for the government to then use for whatever they choose; it has nothing to do with the US. Now try using your head next time, instead of just shilling for braindead theories to make yourself sound smart. Seriously, this is easily verifiable online.
