  3. Torture is not used for information retrieval, it is used for propaganda, this is where Sam Harris lost the argument. The other stuff is mostly fine, but torture is barbaric in so many respects, given the fact that in many cases the collateral damage Harris is talking about IS THE PRISONER. If the prisoner is falsely accused and is then tortured, he is the collateral damage. If the prisoners are only looking for confirmation of their propaganda, the collateral damage is the truth and peace. Torture is basically the resort of the mafia and dictators, not of civilized people.
