@keithpierce5686 nope! Until a judge rules someone mentally incompetent, they can legally go in and purchase a firearm! How do we get people judged as mentally incompetent? FROM THE TRIAL FOR THE CRIMES THEY JUST COMMITTED. America is so broken

@georgeglass3680 "UHHHH HOW DO THE BAD GUYS KEEP GETTING GUNS?!" - Some NRA chuckler who actively voted against regulations

@routerhelp "What? Pfft. Sounds like some liberal talk for good judges taking away the right of the mentally ill to own firearms!" I was having a discussion with this guy who literally said that they believe that blind people should be allowed to own firearms for self-defense. I'm not kidding.

@Buddha23Fett "it's my right to accidentally shoot someone! No, I can't see full figures past five feet - why should that matter? WHAT DO YOU MEAN 'collateral damage?!' Oh. I shot the Amazon delivery driver? That's a shame I thought it was a burglar. No, I will never have a lapse in judgement when I couldn't see!" Do I really need to break out the crayons to explain why a blind person shouldn't be able to accidentally kill someone?

@Buddha23Fett That it is a right is irrelevant. You have the right to free speech until you raise a false alarm or threatening others with violence. You have the right to bare arms as long as you can see the effen target.

You can thank the NRA for the fact that firearms have less regulations than cars

@Buddha23Fett Not really. If you need a stick to see where you are walking then you shouldn't be able to shoot someone on accident then blame your LEGALLY poor eyesight. And that's if someone survives an accident! "I thought he was going to kill me and I misunderstood because I am blind" is not an argument that should even be uttered to an officer, let-alone argued before a court of law. Are you legally allowed to drive? If you can't operate a vehicle going 60mph you can't operate a bullet going 1000 mps through the neighborhood for the exact same reason.

@Buddha23Fett can you capable of aiming beyond the target? Are you capable of seeing the target? Are you capable of seeing "the whites of their eyes?" A man confined to their bed by their condition has all the freedoms afforded to them - even ones they cannot indulge in due to their condition, like (hypothetically speaking) walking. The deaf have all the ability to hear all the music that they can enjoy. You are free to shoot a target as long as you can see. If you can't operate heavy machinery due to poor vision affecting your reaction time and ability to travel, then it's safe to assume that you shouldn't hold the power of life and death to fight something that could very-well-be just some person passing by, or a kid in the yard, etc etc etc.

@IndependentLogos Because people buy them by the dozen in Texas and sell them to Mexico and other parts of the world.
