Seeing Roe move to not an issue was very obvious. The Dems saw that there wasn't as much support as they thought there was for abortion past 24 weeks (most thought abortion ended around 12 to begin with), and when very few actually saw a change in their state laws it really didn't end up mattering. Those who cares about abortion already voted for abortion.

Little clarification because it seems to be misunderstood. Lynchings we're almost entirely cases where there was a known crime and there was no local path to retribution. Some of the crimes today we don't think of as death penalty worth, but most were violent and local enforcement wouldn't actually take care of them. The "whistled at a white woman" was an extreme exception not the rule (most were for murder or rape with multiple witnesses). It also wasn't exclusively for blacks/freed slaves.
