Kay A You. Well, not literally. However, you said: 'No he wasn't you guys only way that because he's doing well, whereas if he kills someone he'll be born from Nigeria. ' In other words, you're accusing us of double standards based on race: if he's successful, we apparently think he's British, whereas if he's a murderer, we think he's Nigerian. So, racism.

Please don't make wild accusations of racism, that's ridiculous. Joshua was born in Watford, Hertfordshire, UK, making him UK-born. However, both his parents are Nigerian-born, making him ethnically Nigerian. That's not the same as being Nigerian-born.

Kay A Technically yes, but pretty much every occasion of something like that happening concerns race. As a country, Nigeria isn't held all that low anyway.
1
Kay A True. Prince Charles also said that, if I'm not mistaken.
1
Kay A What do you mean by 'my country'?
1
Kay A Should have known that, actually. But yeah, Nigeria is a superpower in the context of Africa, with a fairly developed industry, a massive population and large oil reserves. They're also good at football.
1
Kay A Does it have anything to do with the terrorist attacks in northern Nigeria? Are those still happening in the first place? The news here doesn't cover it anymore, but maybe they don't care.
1
Kay A Oh right, the plummeting oil prices. I forgot about that. That's quite a shame, because Nigeria is indeed an oil economy, much like Algeria and most of the Middle East. I don't think Nigeria is very politically stable at the moment, judging by that. I could be wrong, of course. I think Buhari would be better as some kind of military leader than a political leader.

Kay A I wish. I'm Dutch, but I like to call myself a 'closet Brit'.
1
Kay A It's a great place to live, but as an Anglophile, I wish I had at least ancestors from Britain. I don't. Alas, I probably shouldn't be so picky :)
1
Kay A I can imagine Nigerians speak English quite well. They're a member of the Commonwealth, aren't they?
1
Kay A I assume English is the official first language of Nigeria, then? But there are clearly many local languages, which are probably for everyday use?
1
Kay A Those things are usually carried over through family, but that is less now, I think?
1
Kay A That's a shame culturally (the same happens with local dialects in Dutch), but to be fair they don't really need to be able speak local languages.
1
Kay A That's actually painful in a way, yes. Still at least the English language is a great asset internationally.
1
Kay A The Dutch are revered for speaking English well, but I don't agree with that. It's mainly a matter of very poor pronunciation, mind you. Either way, it's a very helpful language.
1
Kay A Thanks, I enjoyed it too.
