I think he was referring to how so many modern turbo engines sound like they're driving underwater, not ricers.

Clayton Cortina Perhaps.

A Mustang on steroids? Oh heavens, don't let it visit Cars and Coffee!

And, you know, craftsmanship, style, exclusivity, not being German, four more cylinders and 100 more horses.

Honfy Lam It's hand-built with more care than any Merc. Some of the components are German, but it's still quintessentially British in every aspect where a difference in culture matters. The V12 sounds quite a lot better than the AMG GT's V8, at least in my opinion.
1
Honfy Lam I think that's up for debate. The V8 has those pops and crackles, that make the car sound like it's broken. The Aston sings much more. That's no longer the case. It is, however, built with more care. It's overall more of an occasion. Plus, the Aston is likely much more comfortable, given that the Merc is apparently quite stiff.

This has 608 so yes, they can.

Clayton Cortina To be fair, this is not a track-day monster. It's a GT, its power is sufficient.
1
Clayton Cortina The F12 has nervous steering and too much power to be relaxing. The Aston is fast, but it's real-world fast, not track fast. It calms down easily.
1
Clayton Cortina Even then, it's too nervous, you need to be too gentle with it. The Aston is more relaxing. The F12 isn't bad, it just serves a different purpose than the DB11.
1
Clayton Cortina It has enough power to be a fast GT, that's all it needs. The rest of the money goes to something else, something more important for an Aston.
1
Clayton Cortina The One-77 did, but it was well over a million quid and extremely rare. There are no common production Astons to have reached 600 without turbos, however.
1
Clayton Cortina True. That said, I still don't think it's so much of a problem because they're Astons.
1
Clayton Cortina Meh, they could do with more power but it's not a top priority.
1
Clayton Cortina Perhaps they'd mount a prototype of the DBS engine?
1
Clayton Cortina The only way to do that is to make a GT-unfriendly, 9k rpm revving V12 like that in the F12.
1
Clayton Cortina Still hardly relaxing. Though the FF and co are quite good.
