Gee I'm the last generation that remembers when there were no cell phones, wonder how we survived oh the horror, but we did........

Most places you are not allowed phones on the floor, you are paid to work not dilly dally on your phone.

Actually no, if you are hired and told no phones on duty and you get caught you violated policy, its on you.

Yeah like Amazon can stop a tornado or can predict one....................

Yep I interviewed a dude a few years back. During the interview he was texting on his phone, I cut it short and said, " Well this career job is not for you bye." He kid looked like he saw a ghost and his jaw hit the floor............

Well seems you might be unemployed , reason is companies have rules. I bet if you owned a business paying stellar wages you wouldn't want your employees to busy texting, taking selfies or dallying around while your paying for it............Or would you?

@philesq9595 You couldn't be more further from the truth, grow up kid, the real world has a lot of surprises in store for you.

Then you'd be fired and arrested for assault.

@Ryan-093 Thought Covid was the only killer today??????? What it isn't?????

@driver568 Yep on your breaks you can use your phones in most places. I work in a detention center, no phones allowed on you on duty..Reasons are for security and photos.

@moneybags999 Well we know how that would work out. People are people and some would definitely ruin it for others dicking around. So the best policy is to say no and if you want the job you'll follow the rules. Just like no smoking on the job , or no drinking or drugs on company time or premises..

Thats classified.......I was a fed too, lol.

Nope, if company policy said , " No phones on duty" and you signed the bottom line willingly and consented, nope.

@laurac.b.devlin8605 Depends you want heavy equipment operators texting while paving a road or using dangerous machinery around you or a pilot flying a plane to busy texting or sending selfie instead of flying a jumbo liner with 400 people on board??????? Bet not.
1
@laurac.b.devlin8605 Short answer , yes. Companies can set forth rules, some company policies differ from others, so again, yes......

I've been a supervisor for well over 20 years, a few things I learned. Some people will do very little given the chance. So will work hard and some just show up just for no reason at all. Thing is safety is always a priority on the job, for OSHA, Labor Board and insurance. Some rules seem dumb to some but somewhere at one time some moron was stupid and well it cost them dearly.

Cooperate Tyranny because you can have your cell phone, you have a lot to learn.

Rank on the job has its perks............

@agentj1326 I've worked in severe snow storms, freezing cold, wildfires a few miles away and lived to tell it.....Hell I lived thru Hurricane Hugo while working in Florida, so yeah.
1
@agentj1326 Sometimes I did, but remember if you sign on for some jobs you assume the risk as well. Soldiers don't get hazard pay, nor do cops, EMT's, Firemen, pilots or medical staff.

@KittenoftheBroccoli Well guess you know all the answer to lifes questions. Not having a phone on duty will not damage your brain, unless thats all you live for is that phone.........
