  4.  @chrispenman2314  Yup. Reagan was really the start. And do you know who was guiding Reagan? The Heritage Foundation, the same group that wrote Project 2025. They had a “program” for Reagan in 1981 (they were founded in 1973), of which he adopted about 80% (hence the start of the “dumbing down of America”). I got this information right here, from Thom Hartmann. I guess they’re trying to finish the job now, but what they’re doing is “finishing” America itself.

  7.  @rakeshmalik5385  And one of the problems with society is that those who are watching those games and, especially movies become enamored of the “stars” and end up worshipping “celebrity” itself, not realizing that the roles they play are not the real person inside. Ronald Reagan and Donald trump (oops, almost forgot there was Arnold Schwarzenegger as Governor of California) are our most recent examples. They weren’t even really good “actors”, but, somehow, people thought they were. I imagine the Romans might have even put one or two of their favorite gladiators into political positions (but I don’t know that for a fact).

  15.  @emsleywyatt3400  Same! I’m exactly in the same position, and while it’s been a wild ride, I’m ready to go at any moment. I’ve seen enough. I’m so glad I didn’t have children because I don’t think I could stand the worry I would have for them or their children. It’s bad enough that I have nephews and great-nieces and a great-nephew. I could see some of this coming from even back in the very late 60s, and certainly early 70s. Humans simply aren’t smart enough, overall, or caring enough, and far, far too greedy and selfish to avoid massive disaster.

  21.  @acknickulus  Having grown up in the South in the 60s and 70s, I understand your point only too well. However, at the same time, that was a period of great change and improvement, including Civil Rights, the attempt at Equal Rights for women (which still has not passed), and others. And people stopped hanging other people from trees. Unfortunately, there are many people who want to go back to the social practices of and before the Civil War, which is incomprehensible to me, I’ll take the 60s and 70s over that and our current situation any day (except for the issue you raised, of course). We were at, in some areas, on the trajectory for improvement, and now much of our society and government seems to have put us in reverse, and is putting their foot on the pedal, and I feel we are completely doomed.

Look at all the Republicans in Congress who are NOT Boomers, like Mike Johnson. He’s certainly no a Boomer. Leon Skum is not a Boomer. Quit trying to put everything bad on the Boomers. Do you have any idea how many of the Boomers marched regularly for the end of the Vietnam War, Civil Rights, Women’s Rights, and other rights?
