  1. That is a reason, in theory, but it’s really, fundamentally, all about controlling women and girls.

  2.  @emmettsullivan690  Yes! And don’t forget that those were also the states with slavery. Many men in those states see women (at least white women) as only a hair’s breadth above slaves. They consider their wives as property, and, often, chattel. I think the legislators in those states are punishing women and girls with all the anti-abortion laws because 1) they’re still mad that they didn’t get to keep their slaves, but they can control their women, often treating them as slaves, and 2) they feel the need to control the women and girls because we’ve had the “nerve” to speak up for our rights, and they’re not about to let that happen if they can help it.

  4. Unfortunately, the majority of the Supreme Court now consists of far-right Christian/Catholic religious conservatives, and they’re passing laws consistent with their religious values. We have to rectify this somehow.
