kenya catholic Cats and traps are good if you have a bottomless budget, you have to maintain the cats and traps as well as repair them over time and repair the small bits of damage they do to aircraft as well. The ski jump works and is effective so what's the problem? The F35B also uses vertical landing and take off. If one brakes the others cannot be used, suspending all flights, how efficient is that. QE shouldn’t be nuclear powered. We wouldn’t have been able to afford one carrier let alone two if nuclear powered. Her range is enough to get her from Portsmouth to Sydney with fuel left so not a problem especially when you have the worlds best replenishment service, the RFA. Being nuclear powered would prevent us from visiting over 40% of the worlds ports which happen to be mostly commonwealth too. It’s more expensive to maintain plus the mid life refuelling would take both carriers out of action for years with nothing else. Ask the French how their nuclear aircraft carrier is getting along in the long run.

Ender Wiggin Idiot. Warships and aircraft carriers have dealt with humanitarian disasters for decades thanks to their ability to land supplies shore, treat people on land and in ship and provide protection. Size isn’t relevant that has been made even 20 years ago, if this was the case the US and every other warship would be compromised. What country has 50,000 operational surface to air missiles? Interesting method to blow up ships by using surface to air missiles too.

Canadian kid Most probably but the MOD don’t comment on submarines

steven katz You have a very low threshold of ‘cuteness’ then. Compared to a US carrier the vessel isn’t that small.

LETS GO “Natos last”. You must be joking. China don’t have a full deep sea Navy nor the experience and logistics to support a war. Russia don’t have any aircraft carriers as their only remaining one has a 200 square foot hole in the side of it after its floating dry dock sunk. Russia also have a great history when it comes to submarines don’t they...

LETS GO Iran haven’t blown up any British drones, odd to assume that I’m American with no evidence or hints. You know you’re loosing the argument when you can’t contribute with any counter facts or evidence.

Clash_Royale Gameplay How did you cope?? A whole 20 minutes!

no name Every ship in the world leaks, even submarines leak and remain dived for weeks at a time. Shows how current you are with defence news considering this leak was fixed well over a month ago.

no name Has at some point no doubt, even US ships leak (I know shock horror).

studinthemaking Often in trials for all vessels the top speed is broken by 5 or more knots.

Mac 73 Every ship and boat in the world leaks regardless of how old it is. It has been known for submarines to leak and still stay dived. Cats and traps are good if you have a bottomless budget, you have to maintain the cats and traps as well as repair them over time and repair the small bits of damage they do to aircraft as well. The ski jump works and is effective so what's the problem? The F35B also uses vertical landing and take off. If one brakes the others cannot be used, suspending all flights, how efficient is that. The carrier has enough crew and escorts for both carriers as confirmed by the Royal Navy and several defence journals. This can also be shown with record numbers of destroyers being deployed at once for the past two years. We own 17 F35B's, all of which are fully operational with y of these taking part in overseas operational duties and the rest shadowing Russian aircraft when operational. The others are in America flying under British pilots until those are ready. QE has embarked F35B’s for the first part of air trials being successful and are now on stage 3. No aircraft carrier in the world, even the Americans don’t start with aircraft. The UK have just ordered another 17 with the over all total to reach 138.

GICking January 2018 saw no US carriers at sea.

hries57 No sense at all.
1
Dogsoldier 1950 The carrier exceeded 30 knots on trials, standard practice when on trials for all ships.

stewart cavanagh Really funny...

Pavol Mášik awacs planes not needed with new P-8 and NATO have joint awacs aircraft in use.

Tahmed Become an aviator, that’s the best bet.

LETS GO Your comment implies that the carrier has no defences and that there are no surrounding defences. Under the same principle it would be game over for every Navy in the world as every developed nation as ICBM’s. Stupid comment.
