  1. Hypothesis: He wanted to be certain all the votes he owned went to T; and when Madame indicated - by some means - she might do otherwise, he killed her? Note that such indications might be altogether subtle - so subtle as to be illusory. No matter to Him. Only his views might matter to him, and hence suspicion and crime are equivalent. Note also that the man might well have seen his wife as something akin to property, or as an extension of he himself.
