  1. Rest of us? Most Democrat voters identify as Christian. The problem with your Sam Harris-style argument is that its a false dilemma, most Christians aren't fundies trying to live out the Old Testament and even the Old Testament doesn't go as far as portraying rape babies as a blessing.

  3. Have it all figured out? I have serious doubts since we humans are limited creatures with limited intelligence and there is potentially no limit to how complex the universe can become. I'd say humans are more of a wonder than the amoeba (not because I think we're better, simply because our bodies and minds are far more complex) but I didn't know they build their own houses. Amazing! I agree it's better to never stop exploring rather than pretending some ancient book tells it all.

  4. Even from a Biology standpoint life is pretty "miraculous". Gametes containing billions of lines of code-like proteins leading to the creation of sentient beings with consciousness, complex lives, amazingly complex bodies that develop in a highly specific way on cue, and the ability to recreate this wondrous ordered hodge-podge. Whether one believes in a higher power or not, that's what many would call a "miracle", like Dr. Manhattan said. Don't take the wonders of life for granted.
