  1. Ana said this wouldn't have happened back when she was in high school. I can say I agree (and I was born the same year as Ana, so we went to school in the same era). I'm sure shit like this did happen in isolated incidents but I wouldn't be surprised if it happens more often now. I blame the breakdown of the importance of manners and courteousness in our society; our "Reality TV"-obsessed society where acting trashy and vulgar is rewarded; our voyeuristic RealStarHipHop-watching mindset, etc.

  2. More signs that American society is in decay. We're going the way of the Roman Empire. I'm a firm believer in Mahatma Gandhi's view that how a society treats animals and the weakest among it is a reflection of the level of humanity of that society. Societies that blame the victim, view the poor, downtrodden and oppressed as "deserving" their lot in life and viewing animals as nothing but resources to be exploited cruelly are societies decaying into decadence and corruption.
