  1.  @Always_Thinking  Currently the SPR holds 389 million barrels of oil, the max capacity is a little over 700 million barrels. Currently the production of crude oil in US is a little higher than the consumption which is around 20 million barrels per day. So if all production in the country would stop then there would be enough for 389 / 20 = 19½ days. That is only if all production would abruptly stop but the maximum withdrawal capacity from the SPR is 4.4 million barrels per day. So no matter what the SPR is not able to supply a normal daily use.

  2. You do know that the government have been giving the fossil fuel industry subsidies in the amount of trillions over the years. It is one of the most heavily subsidized industries in America.
