@Idogi10 With monetary aid from US.

It is because the Israeli government wants all Palestinians out of Gaza, not only Hamas. The Israeli government dont care about the civilians or the hostages. They are pretending that they are in the fight for their life and they are just defending the nation, which is total BS.

@gatolibero8329 I agree. It is the GOP trying to bribe the Jewish population in US to vote for them in 2024.

@Idogi10 "In 1999, the US government signed a commitment to provide Israel with at least US$2.7 billion in military aid annually for ten years; in 2009 it was raised to $3 billion; and in 2019 raised to a minimum of US$3.8 billion." - According to Congressional Research Service

@Idogi10 "The aid from the US is significant, but Israel pays for the vast majority of weapons." This is what you claim. The Israeli military annual expenditures are roughly $27.5 billion. Since you have made the claim then you should know how much of those $27.5 billion are used to purchase military equipment. How much is spend annually on new equipment?

@Idogi10 That is not an answer to my question. Just out of curiousity, how much have Israel spent on the current war with Hamas?

@Idogi10 "Because your question is irrelevant, I was talking on war spending." No, you never said anything about spending. We talked about the military aid from US and you said "Israel pays for the vast majority of weapons". So my question is far from irrelevant. "There is no recent data, but up to January Israel spent 75 billion dollars on the war." I think you have gotten some numbers confused. As of May 9, 2024 the war against Hamas has cost 60 billion shekels ($16 billion) after seven months. It is estimated that the war from 2023-2025 will cost just over $50 billion but that number can easily change.

@Idogi10 Bloomberg, what are your Israeli sources? "And your question is irrelevant because I was talking only about the weapons Israel bought during the war." I have to correct myself as you were initially talking about spending "The aid to Israel is definitely significant, but the vast majority of Israel's spending is using Israeli money, not monetary aid." You said this in response to me saying that Israel is paying for the weapons with aid from US. "Normally, a third of the IDF's budget goes to purchasing equipment." And you know this from where? "Aid coupons" What are you talking about? Even if you are correct about a third of IDF's budget goes to new equipment, which I doubt, then US aid pays for roughly 35% of that equipment.

@Idogi10 "My sources are Mako and Calcalist." When looking at Calcalist I could not find anything to support your claim. One article on Calcalist said: "Israel's war with Hamas in Gaza will likely cost it at least another 50 billion shekels ($14 billion) in 2024" which was from the end of December, 2023. Another article on Calcalist from January says: In December, the deficit was 33.8 billion shekels ($9.0 billion), versus 18.5 billion a year earlier, as spending on the war was 17.2 billion shekels, while tax revenue slipped 8.4%" I could not find anything on Mako. "Maybe I didn't write my comment well enough, I was talking only about the war spending." Can we agree on that a good chunk(30%) of Israeli war spending is funded with aid from US? Either aid form previous years or aid since Oct7.
