The goal is to reduce the use of fossil fuels as much as possible and as fast as possible. You may like it or you may not like it but it is happening.

Sooo many plainly wrong statements here. Where to start... "the electricity that we charge EV's with is generated by Fossil fuels." Currently to some degree but that will change gradually. Even by using the current makeup of energy sources it is still better to drive an EV. "electric vehicles that 90% of Americans can't afford" EVs comes in all forms and shapes aswell as prices. If you can afford a new car then you can also afford an EV. "still pollute badly (just not from the tailpipe)" There is no tailpipe in EVs and the overall pollution is less than regular cars. "Where do we plug in??" There are plenty charging stations everywhere, also in Florida, and more are coming every day. "I’ll be a sitting duck as I’ll only be able to go 100 miles" That is in a very very low end. Most EVs have a range of at least 200 miles. "I don't see any charging stations to power them up at." If you dont see them then it is because you are not looking.

@Mary Alumbaugh There is no "clean" oil. It is all dirty.

@rbear4014 They are listed on Ford's site for 20k. I am no car expert and I have never claimed it either.
2
@cym-city "We need to gradually ween off oil not do it like this." I would completely agree with you if the situation wasnt dire. When I say dire then I mean you and I will be fine but our children and grand children wont if we dont get climate change under control. A lot of future damage is already unavoidable but we might still prevent most of the damage if we act now and not in 5-10 years.

@matthewburns7584 thank you

Trump will never become President again and I am not saying this because I think he is the worst President ever. The clear majority of people have strong adverse feelings about him becoming President again. It wont happen and if he becomes the Republican candidate then democrats will get another free Presidency.

So much BS from gullible and ignorant people.... SAD

@mckessa17 "If Keystone pipeline was approved this would not be happening." Completely false. The Keystone XL pipeline would not be completed and functioning for several years to come.
1
@mckessa17 Sorry but nope. If Biden hadnt stopped construction then it would still not have been completed.
1
@mckessa17 So you blame Obama for the current situation?
1
@mckessa17 Does it matter if I am American? I do not currently live in US. I guess that you dont care much about your children and grand children's future but that is okay as long as they know it.
1
@mckessa17 "Here is the thing you probably do not understand. Crude oil is not going away." I am fully aware of that oil is used in some way in most products but it is a fraction of the overall consumption, between 5-10%. Most of those uses does not "burn/use" the oil product, so there are no CO2 emissions, like plastics or lubricants. "The maximum Sulphur spec in gasoline pre 2005 was 500 ppm. It is now 50 ppm and the technology is there to reduce further." Explain to me what this have to do with anything. So you dont care about or dont believe that humankind is worsening the climate change?
1
@mckessa17 "I worked in an oil refinery, it's more then a fraction." According to EIA 66% of all oil use in US is used for transportation. Removing that alone would make a huge impact. "Having all vehicles switch to electric would not be feasible for the electricity grid in its current form." True but not because of the grid but because of EV manufactoring capacity. The grid will be improved a long way and funds have already been allocated for it through the Infrastructure bill. "The carbon footprint from obtaining battery components would not be insignificant.." True enough but a lot less than using fossil fuels.

@Mpcjm765 Yeah and the underground reptilian aliens secretly control Obama.

@slabbusterrtr7690 "never happen we can NEVER go total electric " Maybe total electric isnt the goal but only renewables is the goal. "u gonna electric passenger jets?" Have you ever heard about Power-to-X? With electricity you can make carbon-neutral fuel for passenger jets, cargo ships and so on. Trains can easily run on electricity. "it will take 100s of years before that happens if it ever does which I highly doubt" Electric cargo ships already exist, a lot of trains runs on electricity and it wont be long before passenger jets fly on carbon-neutral fuel made by renewable power.

Travis 9 A fraction of hurt now is a lot better than a whole more hurt later down the line.
1
@HipH0pHippy True enough but I still have hope.
1
@Zippy Thekid If people say they dont see EV charges anywhere then it is because they are not looking. Ofc there is not an EV charger in a little town of 200 population where only two households have an EV.
1
@novasketch8658 "West Virginia" Yes that is a state in the United States of America. Is there a question?

@16jakers01 I dont understand why only some comments are shown to the public and others are not but I can still see and respond to them. Very strange. Well onto your comment. " what about people still paying off their 5 year loans on their new cars?" This "transition" isnt happening over night. It is something that will take several years, so there is plenty of time to pay off any loans. "Also there are NOT charging stations everywhere." There are no charging stations in small rural towns, that is very true but then again there is not really that many people in each of those towns. Most EVs come with a lvl1 charger but it is quite possible to get a lvl2 for fairly little money. In cities larger than a couple thousand there will be a charger, if not now then very soon. "I live 40 miles north of Chicago and the closest one is in libertyville about 15 miles from me." Now I do not know exactly where you live but I can find plenty of charging stations in a 15 mile radius of Libertyville. There is one in Volo, one in Wauconda, one in Echo Lake(Forest Lake), two near Kildeer, three near Wildwood and several around Gurnee. Around Lake Villa and Lidenhurst, I dont see any. "Biden said he would create more charging stations using his gigantic infrastructure bill and hasn’t even created half the amount stated." How long has it been in the Infrastructure bill was passed? It really doesnt go that fast though I think many people would love it if it did.

@Truck-Kun2.0 "that create water powered motors & make it so we can use water to power our engines." Do you mean steam engines? Isnt that from the 17th century... What is it that you are talking about?
1
@Truck-Kun2.0 I have looked into Aaron Salter and his "water engine". It is a Hydrogen Fuel System and that is nothing new. The rest of what you are saying is just conspiracy theories. Have a good day.
1
@Truck-Kun2.0 As I wrote, it is not a world breaking creation. You are wasting your time trying to convince me of your conspiracy theory. Have a good day.

@rbear4014 You do know that EVs comes in all sizes and prices right? EVS are only slightly more than regular cars but that is quickly made up in less $ per mile.
1
@rbear4014 The 2022 Ford Maverick. Its a hybrid and costs 20k and is actually the cheapest Ford truck in 2022.
1
@oliphauntsneverlie6227 Time will tell
1
@rbear4014 I just quickly looked and I can find a New one for 29k with Factory Installed Options in Daly City, CA. Another New one in Phoenix, AZ for 24k with Factory Installed Options.

@rbear4014 Easy isnt always the best thing to do. President have to make some hard choices sometimes and even some unpopular ones but presidency isnt about being most popular. It is about doing the best for the country and its citizens. EVs and renewable energy is the best for the country in the long run but many people dont see that far ahead. Did you know that Earth havent seen this much CO2 in the atmosphere, as we have currently, in the last 15 million years. At that time the average global surface temperature was 5.4 F higher than today. The infrastructure bill allocated a lot of money that will go towards the electricity grid, EV charger stations, purchasing EV incentives, renewable energy incentives and so on. It wont be easy and it wont be cheap. People wont like it but it needs to get done.
