Compared to NiMH, LiPo batteries are used a lot more often in the industry of radio control models. This is due to higher performance efficiency, much more reliable power, and often longer run times.
The rechargeable LiPo battery is widely used in remote-controlled cars, boats, aircraft, helicopters, drones, and even power tools.
You shouldn't create sparks around a lead acid battery, especially when charging, but I've seen mechanics smoking while they jumped off cars.
It's always wise to follow safety guidelines, for sure, and I too have an RC truck and lots of power tools, and none have ever leaked, caught on fire or exploded.
