Republican lawmakers rezoned areas of Southwest Florida and then they allowed shysters to cut down mangroves and put in parking lots and neighborhoods. This governor used FEMA funds to transport Asylum Seekers from another state, to a better and safer place. YOU could be a fool.

@DavidSibley040461 I never blamed the hurricane on one person and I certainly didn't say that it was the governor's fault. Southwest Florida was developed when he was still a child. Houston Texas didn't flood until they paved 500 square miles with roads, concrete, parking lots and buildings. Climate change is real and the oceans are rising, and when you build right next to the water you have to accept the risks.

Humans often build where they shouldn't. When Lake Mead can't produce electricity and southern California can't water a houseplant without a fine, they'll figure it out.

@DavidSibley040461 I live in Puerto Rico, and I am always overly prepared. I lost a satellite dish in Maria and a plantain tree bent my cyclone fence in the backyard during Fiona. I have 50 gallons of water stored, solar panels and a propane generator with four tanks for backup, and it's $19.99 to exchange at CVS with no line. The Atlantic is warmer than it was 10 years ago so hurricanes are forming before they reach our island, but normally they reached warmer waters north and west of us before they strengthened. My steel reinforced home is far from rivers or mountains so mudslides and flooding isn't an issue and the rocky shoreline is 15 ft above sea level, so I can safely watch the waves from up here.

@DavidSibley040461 They're discussing piping sea water to Salt Lake in Utah, to save it, and Japan uses wave technology to create power. Desalinization and recapturing of water technology has come a long way. It's too bad we have climate and science deniers making decisions for all people regardless of whether they were elected because of their personalities instead of qualifications, and what it takes to be a leader.

@Cupid-Stunt Mangroves grow in the water's edge, especially in the tropics and on barrier Islands, and the land is sometimes dry but mostly wet. There are patches of land in the swamp and the marsh where you can haul in extra dirt and sand, build it up and build, and it wasn't until golf courses were mowing down mangroves in the 90s that they finally passed laws to better regulate the trimming cutting or removal of these important bushes. Yes, they help stabilize Florida's coastline ecosystem and prevent erosion. Mangroves also provide natural infrastructure and protection to nearby populated areas by preventing erosion and absorbing storm surge impacts during extreme weather events such as hurricanes. There are homes and businesses with beautiful ocean views and lovely sandy beaches, where mangroves used to be!

I'll put my new manufactured home next to the beach because they're built better now, and after 10 insurance companies go belly up, the state and the government will cover me, so taxpayers will help me rebuild.

@TheIkaika777 Just the right wing cult, mostly. This President is admired by leaders, but not dictators. 🤪

@cameroncooper9501 Venezuelan and Cuban Americans, Independents, Moderate Republicans and Democrats voted to misappropriate funds for a political stunt? You're Delusional 🤪

Mother nature prefers mangroves over people.

@mattt5006 How is Otay a racist name exactly? That's on you 😜

@austindarrenor 16 accomplishments in under 2 years isn't a sign of implosion. 😉 Our president didn't promise an infrastructure bill every 2 weeks... for 4 years. 🤪
