Avoiding terrorists around the world getting the message that terrorism gets you what you want 2. Avoiding a nuclear Armageddon which starts with one country nuking another and a chain reaction of nuclear responses bringing unimaginable world destruction The second thing America wants, is for no country to annihilate any other country, which includes Israel not wiping out Gaza, and Iran not wiping out Israel The third thing America wants, is if it can have the first two without getting involved, then not to get involved. The reason America is allied with Israel is not sentimental nor is it "Jews control the world" It is because Israel has very good science and technology, including very advanced miletry technology and has also vital military intel, and has (with the exclusion of Netanyahu and his mad government) western values That is it. Follow those simple logical rules with the priority order and you will understand America perfectly, and be able to expect what they will do and understand why.
