  2. It should not .. check out an american WW2 museum, You will see they are deeply US centric and you should not be offended as it is business as usual for them. I suspect the average american does not even see it and they mean no offense. We did stay out of the war for a long time and came in late, this is mostly ignored by Americans who talk about the war this way because that is how it was taught and spoken about commonly.

There never was a European army and there is no indication it would be weak. They are talking about going without the US because we have shown over the last two years that we can not be trusted to follow through with commitments and are prone to massive swings in policy at the whim of a man baby. Talking about Germany walking all over France does not make sense as this time Germany would be in the group. Regardless this statement was made because of things trump himself as said and done and he owns this shift in policy. Making fun of the french over WWII does not and never will make sense in this context except as a tool to get them to do exactly what Macron proposes.
