  1.  @bherber  Not essentally, I am correctly directly compareing them as they are basicly identical in policy and how they are beholden to the same donor class and not what is popular with their own base. Pretending biden is more popular and would win where Bernie would not is empty and is backed up by the same stupid proven failure assertions hiillary made.

  2.  @bherber  the idea that Biden is the best option to win is empty. it is the exact same clearly failed claim Hillary made before losing. The establishment candidates spit on a large segment of their own base chasing a mythical center right constituency that has continually voted GOP when given a choice between republicans and GOP light. The establishment donor owned dems excite no one but the media and need to be rejected The fact is Bernie puts states in play the democrats have long gave up in. Hillary lost the rust belt to Trump after arrogantly not even campaigning there. you have to stop pretending the Hillary or how knows how to win or are popular anywhere. They lost in the places you say we need undermining your own argument.

  4.  Thomas marsha  of course they have the right to say what they think. just as we have the right to call them monsters for saying out loud. evil flourushes when good people stand and do nothing. standung beside overt self declared racists empowers them and at best gives tacit support to them. when you allies act monstrous do not be shocked when you are lumped in with them.

  6.  @bherber  No I am not ignoring likability that I do not rate as highly in Biden as you do. The spin he is some kind of rock star in popularity is not well founded nor does he excite anyone. Biden and hillary may be different people but their policies are nearly identical. Biden also has a stone around his neck when you talk about his record to voters. Add in his propensity for Gaff's and the fact he is sold out and your fairly thin claim of "popularity" carrying him comes apart. Bernie is more popular in red states than any establishment leader and they do not even try to win there in the general. The establishment has NO grassroots support in the south. The only reason hillary won them last time was that the DNC front loaded them so name recognition carried her as they did not know who Bernie was YET. I expect him to strongly outclass the centrists handily in the south were he has been building a constituency for the last few years. Bernie has a total country strategy, Biden most certainly does not and his wing of the party has ceded all the red states long ago. The only time the democrats did well in the south in living memory was when they ran a hope and change guy who pretended to be the populist Bernie actually is. "Centrists" never do well there, time to stop pretending they win anywhere but blue states.

  8.  @bherber  Well I think we have already proven your strategy was a failure. I would argue Obama who turned out to be a centrist in power won the house and the senate by acting progressive and promising us change. Once voters saw him in action the party collapsed in power losing the house, the senate and then the presidency under centrist policy and leadership. They lost over 1000 seats under Obama and ignoring that failure after his high mark of promising change and winning by a landslide seems a poor choice. Being GOP light is no longer a winning strategy and their running after the donors away from popular policy is a hard fail that now costs you. Toe to toe without any answers to what half his base wants Joe will crumble. Everyone is against Nazi's Joe, you will have to do much much better. People want change, offering the same old same old is not going to cut it anymore. You should have learned that by a freak show Trump kicking in the establishment republican and democrat door and setting up shop. The establishment loser barely won the primary against Bernie when he was a no one and had she still had to cheat to do it. These genius's went on to lose to a hideous but populist candidate who also destroyed the GOP establishment even if he did not mean a populist thing he said. Biden and his centrist cast of losers have nothing to offer and are beaten before fighting because they offer nothing. There is a good reason there are a handful of fake progressives aping Bernie's policy. They are failing because everyone see's through it already. Joe does not even have that. Joe has every weakness Hillary had for trump to exploit. Bernie is popular where democrats are not popular, he is really popular where they are already. He is the logical choice over the VP of an administration that saw the democratic party go from giddy heights to irrelevance up-to and including the giving away a supreme court seat. On the put money on it thing, damn me too.

  9.  @bherber  Obama care was the republican health care plan with no public option that he got absolutely no republican support for. The centrists murdered the promise of change and the voters made them pay for it, He folded before fighting with his own super majority. This was among his first centrist failures after supporting a public option during his campaign and for about 5 minutes after. This continued through his entire term enabled by the weak centrists who ran right as the republicans ran off a cliff hating on their own ideas with none of their own forcing democrats to defend heritage foundation half measures. The loss at the mid terms was directly influenced by his cabinet choices, his decision to leave Guantanamo open, to ignore occupy, to not go after the banks, to not pass meaningful bank legislation, etc, etc. I would argue he did not exercise his power so they responded by not showing up in massive swelling crowds because the magic, the hope was broken by reality. They passed a health care plan that was not really popular with their base and not super popular with the GOP's base either. The donors did like it and the health care lobby was very involved in writing it, this helps explain the trajectory democrats popularity over the next few years. Hillary won the early states only because of name recognition. Bernie came from 0% in the polls as a relative unknown. Driven by an entirely policy centric campaign an older guy with bad hair he closed a lot of points not by being a rock star but by being honest and genuine. Biden is not starting way ahead like hillary, no where close. Look at a chart of her popularity from the start of the campaign and after. You may not want to put much money on Joe after all. I will put Bernie's authenticity against Joe's likability any day with that crowd. They can smell BS a mile away and are not fans of the stink when it is from a politician. Seems like faint hope on your part that Joe is more popular there but hey you may be right, time will tell. Cheers

  10. @David Powell David, this is not a controversial idea to many. If we give the government the right to take away our vote it is proven they will find other ways as well. I do not trust them to pick who elects them, so I support the idea of everyone voting.
