Kindred spirit, I feel as you do. I no longer know how to live on this planet. There is too much sadness and destruction.

I live in the US and see this everywhere. There's a war happening against open spaces, forests, trees, beauty. Living in this world is a damn tragedy.

@DaveSmith-cp5kj Deforestation is good for the environment?! Wow, just wow. What an evil and twisted logic.

@womanoftheozarks Same here. I'm the steward of 40 acres in Michigan but in my lifetime have seen logging go from selective cutting to clearcuts. There's no stopping the greed. Much of the land is now owned by the Chinese who are liquidating their "assets". My soul has died a slow painful death watching this happen.

@TheHaughtyOsprey The sad truth. How many people have never seen an old growth tree. You cant know what has been lost if you've never seen it. This world has become too sad to live in.

Righteous anger. Humans behave like a cancer to the living organism that is this planet.

No such thing as a "good" logging company. They replace healthy diverse old growth forests with managed & toxic tree plantations.
7
It's a fallacy. Most forestry operations are not sustainable. What was once a diverse and viable forest gets replaced with managed and toxic tree plantations. Seems humans will never be satisfied until it's all gone. Just like in the Lorax.

@jolkraeremeark6949 The ultimate insult to mother earth....wiping our asses with what used to be a living forest & then polluting precious waters with our waste. Humans are a blight on this planet...
3
Same sad story all throughout human history. We are a species who has lost our way...
2
Humans will never be satisfied.

"Renewable" is a fallacy with today's logging practices. Old growth forests get replaced with managed monoculture tree plantations. There's no way to replace a thousand year old, old growth tree. Gone forever.
2
An honorable goal. Thank you for trying.

@wolfofoinn9640 "The President in Washington sends word that he wishes to buy our land. But how can you buy or sell the sky? the land? The idea is strange to us. If we do not own the freshness of the air and the sparkle of the water, how can you buy them?" ~ Chief Seattle

I feel like you do. Much of humanity is disconnected from nature....from source. What we are doing to the planet is ecological suicide.
2
@ilyabykov2437 Without a doubt.
1
Parks are mostly isolated islands which are "managed". The wild will soon be only a memory.
1
@Thatsmisteroldguytou Managed tree farms. Not a viable forest.
1
Welcome to the liquidation of the planet. Aren't humans great!
1
The idea of humans "managing" a forest is a fallacy. How did the forests survive before humans came along? We just try to justify what we know in our hearts is wrong. That's why you feel sadness.
1
@Tauramehtar "man made forest". Now there's an oxymoronic statement if ever there was. As if man could create a forest....
1
@BubuH-cq6km Feel sorry for you.
1
I find the idea of humans "managing" a forest to be a cruel joke. The height of human hubris and folly. How did forests survive before the clever apes came along?
1
A forest has a natural cycle of growth and regeneration, of life and death.....forest succession, that will continue unless interrupted by say, a clearcut. Nothing personal but to state a logged tree plantation has more benefit than an old growth forest is sadly mistaken and exhibits a lack of understanding.
1
The planet will be better off when we are gone.

They don't want anyone to see what they are doing. What was once a forest is now a decimated sacrificial zone to the engine of human greed & runaway capitalism. End times approaching.
1
Hard to "like" your comment but I hear you. I lived in Tahoe for a time. A truly beautiful place. Sad to hear that. It's happening everywhere & human greed seems to have no limit. End of enchantment.....humans the hungry ghost.
