  1. The "Paul Is Dead" hype that went around from 1966 right up to the eventual Beatles split, was nothing more than a publicity stunt. The saddest thing is that so many people around the world were "sucked in" by it. Whoever came up with the idea deserves nothing more than contempt. Likely it would've been John Lennon who cooked up this stupid stunt whilst under the influence of whatever drug he was taking at the time.

  2. Disney's cartoons were excessively "cutesy-pie" (ugh!) while Warner's Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies proved cartoons could be popular with all ages and genuinely funny WITHOUT resorting to playing the cute angle. That's why Warner's product was VASTLY superior to that of the Disney studios.

Well, if no stunt, obviously the crash wasn't severe and Paul clearly survived but the idiots who assumed the worst, several LP covers and "ephemera" related to The Beatles played on the myth, like Paul being barefoot on the Abbey Road cover, and the rego plate on the VW reading 29 IF, being two examples.

It should've fizzled out after a week or a month, but instead has persisted for an obscene amount of time and I'm sure Paul McCartney himself is heartily sick of hearing about it.

  41. The music of the 1960s and 1970s is of a quality WAY above what was spewed out in the 1990s and early 2000s. The music of the mid-to-late 1950s is the raw beginnings of Rock, R. & B. and Soul. The music of the 1940s and before was turgid trash and deserved the inferior reproducing technology of that era(wind-up spring motored acoustic gramophones). The music(?????) of the 2000s and 1990s is an unmitigated CORRUPTION of pop culture, put out by talentless twerps who rely FAR TOO HEAVILY on technology and wouldn't know one end of a guitar from the other.

  44. There was nothing preventing Disney except his own utter lack of talent to create ANY really FUNNY cartoons. The earlier Warner cartoons, outside the main, and familiar character features with Bugs, Porky, Elmer, Daffy and such, the Merrie Melodies shorts produced by Leon Schlessinger, a lot of them were utterly stupid. It's not until Chuck Jones, Ted Clampett, Friz and Isadore Freleng and co. came on board at Warners did the really GREAT Warner Merrie Melodies and Looney Toons(or Tunes) classic shorts start to be produced. So while Warner's product improved RAPIDLY, there was ABSOLUTELY NO IMPROVEMENT AT ALL in the Disney camp, Disney kept churning out those saccharine-sweet overly-cute crap shorts they always did, except they started producing feature-length drivel, which made things 10 times worse. Warners, by contrast, kept their features short, never more than 8 minutes, and quick-paced, and that's what made Warner's cartoons, other than those produced by Leon Schlessinger, far superior to Disney's drivel.
