  2. I dispute the claim of dubbing Video-8/Hi-8 to VHS. It's been my experience that with camera tapes dubbed across to VHS, the image and sound quality is AS GOOD AS the Video-8/Hi-8 master. It's only when you dub VHS(or even VHS-C) to VHS that the image and sound quality drops markedly.

  3. Of course there was the Irish divisions of these companies, they were making VCRs the recorded the shows you didn't want to see and played them back when you weren't at home! LOL (Yeah, I know it's an old joke but it's topical, and before anyone shouts out the typical response, it was an Irish-born friend who told me the joke).

  4. At 12:46 a grave error: Sony's Video-8 and Hi-8 tapes could be dubbed with NO image degradation! I know because I've done it! I've shot video on a Video-8 cam-corder and dubbed the content to VHS. I'd used the VHS tape copy later to create content for YouTube, and I'd compared the footage from the VHS with that of the Video-8 master, NO IMAGE DEGRADATION!
