  1. Trump has a much larger reservoir of people to draw from. The people are split into liberal , left and reactionary. Progressives are liberals and left but that doesn't mean liberal and left will vote for same politician. Sanders appeal is to the left and Hilary for liberals whilst Trump appeals to all the right. Liberals prefer the status quo and negative peace as Martin Luther King phrased. When he saw white moderate/liberal as more a threat to civil rights and the movement then the reactionary and KKK . Due to not knowing which side they fall on (liberals). He understood liberals are cowards when it comes to full change -- which is what Sanders will bring -- or at least more change. Whilst Hilary won't. This means that Hilary settles the cowardly fear of liberals who are of all races. The other issue is election could drive out a lot of progressives from inactivity when they are faced with Trump reality.
