  2. This is what we need. Farmers to sell direct to us consumers who are willing to support them. The problem with "modern" industrial farming is that there are middle men, business associations, processing plants and speculators who only operate on a profit motive. The constant growth business model is incompatible for farmers. The likes of which has been a cancer in farming countries like Ireland where over 100,000 farming families have disappeared because of the business practice that sets markets prices as low as possible. The CAP penalising farmers' incomes for not rearing enough livestock. Our whole agriculture system in the EU, particularly the CAP welfare is skewed to support giant ranchers, land owners and speculative bodies - and it is tearing our society and environment and farming quality apart.
