  3. John Higgins, I think you've misunderstood the matter. At least on Ireland. We already have our independence. Northern Ireland under the GFA can reunite with the republic at any time, but it can also exist as its own state cooperating with the republic, within the EU. The Scottish were offered it, but heavily warned that independance meant leaving the EU which they valued more. But now we learn they got shafted by Westminster politics, getting neither EU or Indep in return. A cruel irony, maybe?

  4. alpha, the Scots were reassured by Cameron that the UK would not initiate and leave the EU. It was labelled as the most sensible option. The most sensible- option ... Their current trajectory would be worse off, and if Northern Ireland retains EU/CU status, it has full right to do so too.
