  1.  @jksyn0613  Regardless if they have enough or not is not the point. As a citizen of any country, you should protect it in case anything happens. Like I have said, my late father, cousins and relatives all served back then. Did they like it? no way but they just had to do what they had to protect their country.

  2.  @KBowWow75  I agree and many just don’t get it. Serving in the military is not just a Korean thing only. My late father served in Vietnam back in the 50s during wartime. Now that was hard.... Serving during peacetime is not that bad.

  4.  @KBowWow75  Nothing lasts forever and I feel it is great if they serve whether they get an exemption or not. I doubt they will as many other Kpop idols have served too. Serving is not a meet all end all so I wonder why everyone is so against them serving like it is some death sentence. Many of my favorites from Taiwan and Singapore have all served and they all came back not only as better performers but better people too.

  5.  @tracydowd4013  I am sure many know what BTS has done which is great. But what if their country got attacked? Do you want them to hide in their mansions or help defend their country? Those who don’t live in a country or has an ancestral country with the draft will never understand why everyone who is able bodied needs to serve.

  7.  @rosariob9426  Have you seen others face backlash when trying to dodge the draft? I remember one of my favorite Taiwanese artists saying this after he served for 2 years in Taiwan. He said “Serving in the military makes you a real man “. I am sure the citizens of Korea would feel the same way.

  12. I agree and many don’t get that. I wish just like everyone that there was no war so there would not be a need for military enlistment at all. But sadly the world is not so perfect. Serving is not some death sentence or a meet all end all. I am sure they will get even more admiration if they served versus trying everything to avoid it.

  24.  @multistan9582  You have to understand how hard it is for the government. Many other Kpop stars have all served and now if they just exempt BTS only, what will others who have served think? It will create an uproar. But their time is running out as Jin will turn 30 soon. However, even if they were granted an exemption will they accept it or not? That is another thing… it is more complicated than you think.

  26.  @ItsRoselGrnas  I know a lot about this topic and they get vacation whenever the government gives it to everyone. My friend who served said that if they perform well, they can earn vacation time too. During their vacation time, they can even travel overseas if they want. I don’t know if you remember Park Bo Gum serving. He always updated everyone on how he was doing. It is not all terrible like you all think.

They have it for many good reasons. One of the reasons is to protect against invaders. Those who come from countries without it just don’t understand at all.

Serving is not just a Korean thing as my late father served during wartime so I know it all too well. It is not heaven but is not a death sentence either. I suggest you all learn about it all instead of constantly wanting for them to be exempted. I wish there was no war of any kind so there would be no need for a military at all. However, sadly as you can see from the recent war between Russia and the Ukraine, the world is not so perfect.

It is not as simple as you think as many other Kpop idols all served too so for them to exempted is complicated. Plus, does it matter what fans want or think? Of course I know they worked hard but many work hard but get nothing back while BTS has gotten a lot. Them getting exempted is more complicated than you think as many actors and other Kpop idols who are popular as well all served so just to exempt them is not an easy task. It will create an outcry in Korea. Plus serving in the military is not a death sentence. Many of my favorite idols from Singapore and Taiwan have all served. I supported all of them and they all came back not only as better people but better artists too. I find it sad that many think serving in the military is a meet all end all.

They are not gone the whole time. They get vacation and they will not just do military training only like many think. They will be doing a lot of what they are doing now which is performing. You don’t need to be Korean as serving in the military is not just a Korean thing.

  42.  @tracydowd4013  I guess so but my point is other countries have this draft too. But if they are doing a survey then maybe only the Koreans have the right to voice an opinion. However, at the end it is still the decision of the government. If you are a fan and will remain a fan then you can just wait for them.

  44. I wonder why everyone thinks so badly of the military and think they must be exempted? Yes the military is not heaven but is not a death sentence either. If it was wartime then yes you should be scared because that was when my late dad served, but in times of peace it should not be that bad. People tend to forget that North and South Korea are still at war.
