@belindathorne9784 they have been saying it’s under review in response to scummy journalists who ask questions knowing full well they won’t make an announcement half way through an interview.

@Ghengiskhansmum Leeds tramway system closed in 1959. The modern tram proposal was cancelled by the Blair government. Let’s see what happens this time.

@matthewv4170 a 10 second google search easily clarifies that they are planning an extension of the existing line to Terminal 2 and that’s what it refers to.

@Ewan0025 I take your point about capacity, but any rail improvements away from the north-west will bring benefits that HS2 won’t. There’s too much focus on Manchester. Yorkshire and the north-east benefit much more from the new proposals.

@Ewan0025 But the capacity argument is weaker than it was when the project began as the WCML isn’t even back to pre-covid traffic levels. It all comes down to the best value for money when it comes to investment and, at this stage, it isn’t HS2 to Manchester. Better to improve what we already have at this stage.
