It's weird to me, and I feel like I'm in the Twilight Zone or something, but I remember way back about a year or so before he decided to run, that he was in some hot water, both in the US and in Ukraine, about his shady business practices, and it seemed like "the walls were closing in on him" - and many people on the right were saying he was faking dementia so as not to be held accountable or able to testify, and then decided to run so that no one could do anything against him because it would appear too partisan. And evidently it worked, because I never hear anything about it anymore, it's as if it never happened. I feel like I'm the only person in the world who heard the talk about that and believed it back then. (Also, that he would only serve just over half of his first term, allowing Kamala to finish his first term, then be able to run for two full terms herself).
